The New year usually brings a lot of New Year’s resolutions. They are mostly, but not always about getting fit, losing weight or eating better. I have never seen as many people in my gym as on the 2nd of January. No need to say that as of today, 2 weeks into the new year, the situation has normalized again. I’m not sure if these people gave up already or just found a new way to work on their New Year’s resolutions.

This year I will still keep my gym’s membership, but I also want to add some activities that I can do outdoors. Our city is adding more and more bikeways, so cycling seems like a great way to spend some active time outdoors and if you already did not know – cycling has a ton of health benefits!

It’s never late to start living healthier! If you are not a big fan of gyms, you can try activities that can be done elsewhere. Walking, swimming, running and biking are great ways to exercise, burn some calories and have fun and at the same time.

As for any sport, the right gear makes practicing sports much safer and enjoyable. If you are taking up a new activity, stick to the essentials at firs and with time, you can start adding to your kit. To avoid bankruptcy, be smart and shop during the sales. You can’t even imagine how much you can save when buying your helmet, cycling clothing or biking shoes on sale!

We all know that a bike and a helmet are a must for any biker, but there are several other essentials you should keep in mind. The gear you need depends on what kind of cycling you will be practicing. The infographic below gives you a glimpse of some of the most important things you’d need for an enjoyable and safe ride.
